Gradable and Strong Adjectives

Grammar Point!

There are different forms in which we can use adjectives.

Strong adjectives already include the idea of very. Like terrible that means "very bad". In this case what we do is to change the form of the adjective from bad to terrible.

We can also use some adverbs besides very like fairly, extremely and incredibly with gradable adjectives but not with strong adjectives.

For example
It is correct to say "incredibly difficult"
It is incorrect to say "incredibly impossible"
